Student Scholarship Opportunities

Women in Leisure Services, Gamma Chapter, is proud to offer a Student Scholarship Program to assist in the development of women students in the field of recreation and leisure services.

The Student Scholarship Program provides support and recognition to women for their educational accomplishments, plus personal and professional service.

Student scholarships will be awarded based upon the qualifications of the applicant, as determined by the Scholarship Committee.

Eligibility

  • Applicant must live, work, or attend school in the Gamma Chapter boundaries (Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino/Riverside counties).
  • Applicant must be pursuing a graduate or undergraduate degree in Recreation, Leisure Studies, Human Services, Public Administration, or any closely related field at an accredited college or university.
  • Undergraduate applicant must maintain a full-time student status of 12 semester units of more (or quarter equivalent) OR a part-time status of 6 semester units or more (or quarter equivalent) AND working and/or volunteering in a recreation/leisure services setting. 
  • Graduate students must maintain 9 semester units for full-time student status OR 3 semester units and working a minimum of 10 hours per week for part-time status. 
  • Minimum GPA of 2.5.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a paid or volunteer municipal recreation setting.
